Yes, this is my page, now hmmmmmmm, what can I say?! I play the fiddle in the band, although, I also play other instruments, such as guitar bodhran whistle (anything I can get my hands on... as it were). I'm currently studying Music Technology at Edinburgh University, hoping to go on and get a job someday (never gonna happen!). I'm 22 years old, although if this site is going to be anything like the last one, and not changed for years on end, I'll be a lot older |
I got into the Manx music thing as my parents were both in Perree Bane (Manx Dance Group), Mum being a dancer and Dad being the fiddle player who holds the fiddle against his belly, who can also be seen in the Calor Gas Ceili Band. At first I was one of the cute young dancers that everyone aahed at, as I got slapped around the chops by Grainne in Chyndaa yn Bwoilley, but I think I'm a little too old for that now. I started playing instead of dancing for a few reasons... laziness, beer, money, belly problems... mostly laziness!
I've tried to write a few tunes for King Chiaullee, but none of them can live up to the first one I wrote when I was about 12! King Chiaullee was then called the 'Manx Group' at St. Ninian's High School, shortly after that calling ourselves Queg Mooinjer Veggey (Five Little People), not a title we could hold for long as we soon grew (not just vertically!).
I have several musical influences (actually far too many to mention), as my musical taste varies from Classical to Metal all the way through to folk (pretty much anything but Country and Western!!).
